Hannah has been a water person all her life, to the point where no one ever taught her how to swim as a child because one day she just swam.

When she moved to Mexico, she quickly became involved in mermaiding and became one of the first PADI Mermaid Instructors when the curriculum was introduced in 2020. It was the perfect way to combine her background in education with her passion for being in the water.

She quickly developed an interest in marine life, particularly fish identification, because mermaids should know their friends’ names and care about their well-being. She became involved with Reef.org and contributes to their database monitoring fish populations. Hannah also teaches fish ID in collaboration with Reef.

Her passion for the ocean and marine life conservation led her to try scuba diving—and she fell in love with it. Being so close to the creatures she had been learning about was something mermaiding didn’t quite allow her as much as scuba diving did.

After her Discover Scuba Experience here in Cozumel, it took her less than a year to become Rescue Diver certified in Sint Maarten, and just 8 months after that, she started her Dive Master Training with Sherief here on Cozumel.

Now, Hannah is our resident Dive Master, PADI Mermaid Instructor, and fish ID expert. She works with underwater photographers on a collection of images of local marine life, and she is the person who will help you find everything at the shop that you are looking for
